National Racehorse Week runs from 22 to 31 August 2026, with training yards, studs, retraining centres and community events giving visitors a closer look at the lives and care of racehorses.
Why it matters
Racing’s public reputation depends partly on allowing people to see its standards for themselves. Open days can turn welfare from an abstract debate into direct evidence of daily care, skilled employment, veterinary support, retraining and responsible ownership.
The opportunity
For breeders, trainers, studs and aftercare organisations, the week is not simply a promotional event. It is an opportunity to explain their work, build trust and create relationships with people who may otherwise have little contact with racing.
