The British Horseracing Authority has renewed its focus on making the industry more environmentally sustainable through its Racing Resilient work.
Why it matters
Environmental pressures are already operational racing issues. Extreme heat, water use, ground management, energy costs, transport and severe weather can all affect fixtures, horse welfare and the economics of racecourses and training operations.

Clear standards and shared practical guidance could help smaller organisations take action without duplicating research. Racing also has an opportunity to demonstrate leadership through better measurement, responsible land management, efficient facilities and transparent reporting.
